Self-powered busbar sensor

BBS350CT

CT-powered Wireless Busbar Temperature Sensor
CT-powered, no battery-40°C to 150°C0.4–66 kV10-year life

A self-powered wireless sensor that harvests energy from the magnetic field around the busbar, so there's no battery to replace. It monitors critical temperature points on metal and insulated surfaces of current-carrying components, from LV panels up to 66 kV switchgear.

  • Powered by induction from the busbar current, starting from 4 A
  • Measures -40°C to 150°C, ±0.5°C accuracy from 0 to 85°C
  • Retrofit metal strap fits busbars, breakers and cables without drilling
  • AES-128 encrypted, with ≥ 99% packet delivery

Self-powered temperature monitoring for live conductors

The BBS350CT monitors critical temperature points on both metal and insulated surfaces of current-carrying components. It harvests energy from the magnetic field around the busbar (a minimum current of 4 A is needed), so it needs no external power source or battery.

It measures accurately up to 150°C and transmits wirelessly to BBC969-485RC and BBC969-27C controllers. A compact, rugged enclosure suits demanding industrial environments, including switchgear, electrical panels and manufacturing facilities.

Its wireless, low-maintenance design is quick to deploy and keeps lifecycle maintenance to a minimum, making it ideal for continuous condition monitoring, early detection of abnormal temperature rise and preventive maintenance of critical connections.

How it works

  • Energy harvestingThe sensor draws its power by induction from the current flowing in the conductor, starting at 4 A.
  • Smart samplingTemperature is sensed every 20 seconds and sent every minute by default, with events recorded as they happen.
  • Reliable wireless linkUp to 10 m inside panels or 50 m line of sight, AES-128 encrypted, with ≥ 99% packet delivery.
  • Remote configurationOperational parameters can be updated through the gateway, with no need to open the panel.
