Wireless bus duct sensor

AMP-WM2THC

Surface Temperature & Ambient Humidity/Temperature Sensor for Bus Ducts
-20°C to 150°C surface10-year battery50 m rangeIP65

A compact, magnetically mounted wireless sensor that watches bus duct joints around the clock. It measures the surface temperature of the joint plus ambient humidity and temperature, and alerts you to abnormal temperature rise before it turns into a failure.

  • Compact magnetic device that installs in seconds, with no drilling or tools
  • Surface temperature -20°C to 150°C, ambient -20°C to 85°C, humidity 0–95%
  • 50 m wireless range with AES-128 encrypted data
  • Battery-powered, with a lifespan of up to 10 years and 24/7 hotspot detection

Prevent bus duct failures with continuous thermal monitoring

Excessive temperature inside a bus duct is often the first sign of electrical overloading, deteriorating connections or rising contact resistance. Left undetected, prolonged overheating degrades insulation and increases the risk of faults, short circuits, equipment damage and fire.

Bus duct joints are especially critical. They carry heavy loads and face mechanical and thermal stress: vibration, seismic activity and movement can loosen joints, while repeated expansion and contraction with changing load and ambient temperature further affect joint integrity and create localised hot spots.

The AMP-WM2THC gives you continuous, real-time visibility of these connections. Timely temperature data, alarms and alerts help maintenance teams spot developing problems early, supporting predictive maintenance, fewer unplanned outages, safer operation and longer asset life.

How it works

  • Panel temperature sensorOn the back of the unit, in direct contact with the bus duct surface through the magnetic mount.
  • Humidity sensorOn the front face, measuring ambient relative humidity and temperature around the joint.
  • Smart samplingMeasures every 60 seconds by default and senses every 20 seconds. If a temperature-rise trigger is reached, it sends event data straight away.
  • Secure wireless linkData is encrypted with AES-128 and sent to a BBC969-485RC, BBC969-27C or AMP-IoTG.
